Define the Installation and Commissioning Scope
The proposal identifies the systems, areas, tasks, site visits, and deliverables included. Installation, control programming, lighting adjustment, and final handover can be coordinated together or discussed as separate scopes.
Lighting installation may cover the agreed luminaires, drivers, mounting details, and connections. KNX and DALI commissioning may cover device identification, addressing, groups, scenes, user controls, and functional checks for the specified equipment. Lighting adjustment may include aiming and scene fine-tuning, including a nighttime visit where required and agreed.
Product supply, design changes, remedial works, access equipment, additional visits, and ongoing maintenance are included only when stated in the proposal.
NORIX and the Electrical Contractor: Agree Responsibilities Early
Before mobilisation, the project team should agree who is responsible for electrical installation and verification, cabling, containment, panels, terminations, mounting supports, access, control integration, testing, and documentation. The allocation follows the contract and site requirements.
NORIX carries out the agreed lighting and control tasks. Work assigned to other parties must be ready for the relevant installation or commissioning stage. Outstanding installation issues or changes should be recorded and resolved with the responsible party before final sign-off.
What Should Be Ready Before a Site Visit?
- Approved information: current lighting and electrical drawings, fixture schedules, control requirements, and relevant manufacturer information.
- Site status: the agreed installation stage, access arrangements, responsible site contacts, and a coordinated work programme.
- Equipment: the specified luminaires, drivers, sensors, interfaces, controllers, and user devices available for the agreed tasks.
- System information: circuit and device schedules, existing configuration files where applicable, and confirmation of the required operating scenes.
- Outstanding items: known defects, substitutions, incomplete works, or changes that could affect the visit.
Send the current status before booking so the visit can be planned around what is ready.
Commissioning Records and Handover
The handover deliverables are agreed for the project. They may include the completed functional checklist, device or group schedules, recorded scene settings, configuration backups, relevant operating instructions, user familiarisation, and a list of outstanding items.
The proposal should identify which documents and files are supplied, their format, and responsibility for future updates. Follow-up adjustments, maintenance, and additional training are defined separately unless included.
Installation & Commissioning: Frequently Asked Questions
Can NORIX commission equipment installed by another contractor?
This can be reviewed after checking the installation status, equipment, available documentation, and required functions. The scope and any prerequisites must be agreed before work begins.
Does installation automatically include KNX or DALI programming?
No. Programming, addressing, integration, and scene configuration should be explicitly identified in the proposal.
Can existing lighting scenes be adjusted?
A review is needed to confirm system access, equipment compatibility, available project files, and the requested changes. Any investigation or remedial work is agreed as part of the scope.
How are cost and duration determined?
They depend on the system size, installation condition, required functions, documentation, access, and number of visits. Share the drawings and current status for a project-specific proposal.
Is support after handover included?
The proposal or handover documents define included support, follow-up visits, exclusions, and any separate maintenance arrangements.
